Is the company spread too thin? As the transportation landscape evolves, how can Uber adapt its business model to stay competitive? • Because a food supply chain is domino-like, when one part of the food supply chain is affected, the whole food supply chain is … To be successful, firms must develop the capabilities to shepherd communities, leverage without exploiting them, and share intellectual property rights. This paper begins to detail how America can boost and innovate its testing supply chain to reach the necessary level of daily testing. Not many Chinese companies open manufacturing facilities in the US, but automotive glass maker Fuyao is considering just that. We argue that this can be achieved through a combination of scaling up existing approaches, small- and large-scale innovations, and 30 mega-labs established across the country to perform high throughput processing (1-3 million tests per day) with 12-24 hour turnaround. We asked Harvard Business School experts how the COVID-19 pandemic is likely to change business practice. This study includes findings that challenge the notion that companies need to adopt practices that hurt their employees because investors want them to do so. Policies that help suppliers access skilled labor, buyers, and capital could be beneficial for fostering innovation and economic growth.
